Free SAN and storage performance and capacity monitoring

Why do we need "Administrator" role to monitor IBM Storwize and SVC?

The problem is that one command which is necessary for downloading of statistical data requires Administrator role.
It is command: svctask cpdumps
The cpdumps command copies dump files from a nonconfiguration node onto the configuration node.
Data can be retrieved via scp only from the configuration node.

The problem is same for getting of data through CIMOM or TPC.

IBM lab comment and recommendation:

The cpdumps command is disruptive (can cause files to be deleted) and so does not fit in the Monitor role.
We would like to enhance the roles made available by SVC, ideally making them fully user-definable, but there is no firm plan to do this at the moment.

Please suggest to your client they open an RFE to get visibility of this request:

SVC/Storwize are under the 'Tivoli' brand.

STOR2RRD statement
We would like to encourage you to make visible that problem to IBM via the above form.
Allowing of retrieving statistical data via non privileged user should be basic thing which should be supported by the storage.

Thank you in advance!

Actual update (Apr 2015)

There has been already raised a RFE (Request For Enhancement) for implemention of that feature.
We encourage everyone to vote for it to make it more visible for IBM. Thanks!

Actual update (Feb 2016)

It has already disapeared from RFE voting page. We do not know the reason. Either it has been aproved for implementation or refused. We are trying to investigate more ...
